Visit Mystic or Stonington

What better way to spend your day then spending it cruising over to Mystic or Stonington Connecticut for lunch or dinner. Set out from Watch Hill and enjoy the sights of Fishers Island Sound and the Mystic River. The captain will dock in town at a local waterside restaurant and so you can explore the quaint, historic town. Enjoy specialty boutique stores and various restaurants.

Captain Jack's Local Area Tour

Depart from Watch Hill and travel across the sound to Fishers Island enjoying the cottages of Watch Hill and Fishers Island while passing six light houses, two life saving stations, the famous links golf course, Fishers Island Club and the private island of a famous inventor. Travel up into West Harbor Fishers Island and back across Long Island Sound’s eastern most part to the quaint fishing villages of Noank and Mystic. If you would like to stop for lunch, dock at the famous lobster waterfront restaurant. Using his personal historic photo’s & artifacts, Captain Jack will bring the history of the region to life from the stories as told in his book about this area, From These Shores. Choose a late afternoon charter and enjoy the beautiful sunsets Watch Hill is famous for. By request, be picked up in a 1913 Model T Depot Hack Woody for a brief tour of Watch Hill.

Mystic Seaport Museum by Sea

A truly memorable and exclusive excursion designed exclusively for Ocean House guest by our Captain Jack Spratt, a lifelong member, supporter & volunteer of Mystic Seaport. The tour incorporates a half- or full-day on water and land. Captain Jack picks you up at the Ocean House in his 1913 Model T Depot Hack Woody for a short motor tour of Watch Hill before departing our docks aboard Encore for an exciting trip to Mystic Seaport Museum.

As we steam under the Mystic bridge you are immediately transported to the 18th century. After cokicng in the center of all of the action, Captain Jack, offering extensive knowledge and access to the museum collections, takes you on  a private, behind-the-scenes tour of Mystic Seaport Museum, including collections not open to the public and a hard hat tour of the restoration of the Whale Ship Charles Morgan. On the full day tour you will enjoy a champagne sunset as we steam east to our homeport.

Lighthouse Tour

Southern Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut feature some of the oldest lighthouses in the country. This tour includes the official Lighthouse Society Passport and stamps for all twelve area lighthouses: Watch Hill, Stonington, Latimer, North Dumpling, Race Rock, Great Gull Island, Plum Island (full day only), New London Ledge, New London Harbor, Avery Point, Morgan Point. Full day excursions include Mystic Seaport Museum Brant Point Replica and lighthouse museum.

Seasonal Harbor Seal Tour

One of our area’s best kept secrets is the annual visit of the Harbor Seals to Fishers Island Sound. The fascinating creatures migrate south from cold, northern waters to enjoy Rhode Island’s warmer water temperatures and sunshine. Spring and fall are the ideal times to catch these gentle beasts hauled out on rocks, resting, socializing and sunning in groups.

Leave from Watch Hill for a two hour excursion off shore to the eastern tip of Fishers Island, New York. Utilizing the very best technology including military binoculars, underwater hydro-phone and submersible robotic camera, naturalist Captain Jack Spratt offers a truly amazing and informative experience.

Moonlight Cruise

Once a month, the moon rises as the sun sets. This is a special and magical time on the bay, which can best be seen from the water.
