THE OCEAN HOUSE TO DEBUT LUXURY 12,000-SQUARE-FOOT SPA
~OH! Spa Will Open as Part of Resort’s $140 Million Restoration Project~
WATCH HILL, R.I., April 21, 2010 – Set to open June 1, 2010, the newly rebuilt and restored Ocean House will feature a full-service, 12,000-square-foot Spa, adding to the luxurious accommodations and timeless elegance that define the historic property. The OH! Spa will draw inspiration from its oceanfront location, offering breathtaking views as well as customized products with fresh, local ingredients from the Atlantic Northeast region. The property’s stunning location, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Montauk and Block Island, will provide the ideal environment for relaxation and recuperation.
The luxury facilities will feature six spacious treatment rooms, where guests will enjoy a range of services including year-round, seasonally inspired treatments, and a dedicated room for couples. Utilizing all of the latest developments in spa techniques, the spa will offer a fabulous selection of natural treatments and packages From the Ocean and From the Harvest. The spa’s summer menu will offer enticing treatments such as the Ocean Experience, a 90-minute therapy that begins by using marine salt crystals to exfoliate and warm herbal compresses to soothe key muscles. A hydrating cream is then massaged gently into the skin to complete the experience. The 60-minute Harvest Serenity Wrap body treatment will blend organic peaches and cream with fresh honey to create an aromatic and nourishing experience that re-hydrates the skin.
“The OH! Spa will exemplify the world-class luxury and seaside experience that we will provide our guests and residents,” said Daniel Hostetter, Managing Director of the Ocean House. “The core vision of the OH! Spa will be to deliver the highest degree of relaxation and a truly nurturing and personalized experience.”
The OH! Spa will also include a dedicated room for manicures and pedicures, as well as a full-service nail and hair salon and men’s and women’s lounges that feature herbal steam rooms and relaxation areas. The Ocean House state-of-the-art fitness center will not only offer 24-hour virtual fitness instruction as well as personal trainers; it will also boast ocean views, a yoga and movement studio, relaxation room and 20-meter lap pool overlooking the beach.
Perched high on the bluffs in Watch Hill, R.I., the Ocean House will be the only New England resort to offer direct access to private beach space, allowing for private spa treatments on the water’s edge including manicures, pedicures and Cabana Massages, as well as yoga and tai chi on the sand.
For guests seeking a destination spa getaway, the resort’s Spa Suite will offer exclusive access to the OH! Spa and its services. The suite will measure 1,200 square feet with 180-degree views of the Atlantic, a relaxing sitting area and working fireplace.
Guests at the OH! Spa will also enjoy the Ocean House’s spa cuisine, offering low-fat, farm- and sea-to-table menu choices with low sodium levels. For spa guests on the go, seasonal smoothies can be enjoyed post-treatment or while relaxing in a beach cabana. Spa bento boxes will also be available. Those seeking to balance their nutrition and indulgences, a wine-tasting spa dinner may be arranged to pair regional wines with the chef’s special spa creations.
The OH! Spa will also feature its own line of premium spa products inspired by the therapeutic properties of the beach and local ingredients. The scents used in each product will change to reflect the freshest ingredients available each season. Ingredients will be gathered from local farms, apiaries and gardens while in the peak of their season or harvested within ocean’s reach where mineral elements retain active properties. The OH! Spa amenity line will include shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, bar soap, muds, scrubs and salts.
In addition, the OH! Spa will feature products from exclusive brands that share the Ocean House’s commitment to sustainability, including Farmaesthetics® of Rhode Island, which is committed to “Sustainable Beauty®,” with products that are 100 percent natural using certified organic herbs, flowers and grains grown on American family farms.
